Giles County Court House circa circa 1863/1864 This picture is the Giles County Courthouse during the Civil War. Those are Union troops in the picture. Mr. Wamble believes that it was taken in the fall of 1863 or the spring of 1864. There are civilians in the left foreground wearing long dresses, but not coats. Some think that this was taken the day Sam Davis was hanged, but there is no real evidence to prove that. He was hanged in November, 1863, and the ladies would have been wearing coats in late November. There are tree limbs with no leaves on the right side. |
