Shannon Quinton 0050; Shannon Wm. 0714; listed on 1812 Giles Co., TN
tax lists.

Quinton----will written 1830; The tract of land on which I live to be
equally divided between William Williamson who married my daughter
Sally and Malissa Fulks daughter of Herod Fulks who married my
daughter Rebecca. The remainder of personal property to be equaly
divided between wife and Malissa Fulks.

In the SC archives, I found war records where William Shannon was paid
for the duty of his son, Quinton. Mr. Quinton Shannon, his account of
militia, duty as private done before and since the reduction of
Charleston, 1786. Then, I found where William Shannon was also paid
for duty in Andersons', militia in Charleston and for a horse lost in
militia 1781. Does anyone know who these Shannons were? (Darlene

Quinton is listed on 1820 Giles Co., TN census with three males, one
being himself; three females, and one female adult.

born about 1775 in ?.  Quinton SHANNON and ? UNKNOWN had the following
children:

3.  Rosannah SHANNON2 was born about 1777 in SC.  James Alexander
(b.1760-1770 NC ?) married Rosannah Shannon (b. 1770-1780 SC ?). They
lived in Elbert Co & Lincoln Co GA and Rosannah appears to have a
relative, Quinton Shannon who witnesses some of their deeds about
1800. By about 1810 James & Rosannah Alexander move to Giles Co TN
with Quinton Shannon. About 1818 their daughter Jane Alexander (b.
1796 NC?) is married to John Guthrie of Giles Co TN. (Thea Francis:

She died before 1850 in cGraves Co., KY.  Researcher, Thea Francis,
noted on GenForum Alexander/Shannon board that Rosannah may have died
after 1843 in AR with Alexander or Shannon relatives. (2 April, 2000)
 Rosannah seemed to have a relative, Quinton Shannon, who witnesses
some of their deeds about 1800.  By about 1810 James & Rosannah
Alexander move to Giles Co., TN with Quinton Shannon.

The 1812 tax list of Giles Co TN lists Rosannah's husband James
Alexander and both Quinton & William Shannon. I also found Quinton
Shannon appearing in numerous court records there mostly serving as a
juror

Rosannah is listed on 1840 Graves Co., KY census with the following: 1
male under age of 5;  2 females between the ages of 5 and 10; 1
female, 15-20; 1 female 20-30; and 1 female between 60-70.

 Lived in Elbert and Lincoln Co., GA before moving to Giles Co., TN.
 James, Sr. ALEXANDER was born about 1765 in NC.  He died in 1839 in
Graves Co., KY.  James Alexander (b.1760-1770 NC ?) married Rosannah
Shannon (b. 1770-1780 SC ?). They lived in Elbert Co & Lincoln Co GA
and Rosannah appears to have a relative, Quinton Shannon who witnesses
some of their deeds about 1800. By about 1810 James & Rosannah
Alexander move to Giles Co TN with Quinton Shannon. About 1818 their
daughter Jane Alexander (b. 1796 NC?) is married to John Guthrie of
Giles Co TN.

 +8 iii. James, Jr. ALEXANDER (born in 1801).
 9 iv. William Shannon ALEXANDER died in 1823 in Madison Co., TN.
 10 v. Nathaniel ALEXANDER died in 1823 in Green Co., TN.  Dies while
at Greenville College, as Presbyterian Minister.
 11 vi. Quinton Cicero ALEXANDER.

7.  Eliza R. ALEXANDER was born in 1798 in Lincoln Co., GA.  She died
? in Graves Co., KY.
 
Eliza R. ALEXANDER and Henry COULTER were married in 1821 in Madison
Co., TN.  Henry COULTER was born in 1791 in Catawba Co., NC.  He died
in 1867 in cKY.  Eliza R. ALEXANDER and Henry COULTER had the
following children:
 
 +14 i. D.  P. COULTER (born on 1 May 1939).

8.  James, Jr. ALEXANDER2 was born in 1801 in GA.  He died ? in Graves
Co., KY.  James Alexander and family were listed a few houses down
below Rosannah Alexander on the 1840 Graves Co., KY census.
 
James, Jr. ALEXANDER and Amelia Ann CONN were married in 1829 in
Madison Co., TN.  Amelia Ann CONN.

14.  D.  P. COULTER was born on 1 May 1939 in Graves Co., KY.  D.P.
COULTER, Graves County, county clerk, was born May 1, 1839, in Graves
County, Ky. He is a son of Henry N. and Eliza R. (Alexander) COULTER.
The father was born in Catawba County, N.C.; he died in 1867, aged
seventy-six. The mother was born in Lincoln County, Ga. She died in
1875, aged seventy-seven.
 

D.  P. COULTER and H. A. HAYES were married in 1868 in Graves Co., KY.
