Registered the 25th January 1831.

This Indenture made and entered into the 20th day of Feby 1830 between John Hankins of the one part and Nathaniel S. Hastin of the other part both of the County of Giles and State of Tennessee. Witnesseth, that the said John Hankins for and in consideration of the sum of Eight hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Nathaniel S. Hastin the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold, and delivered aliened released conveyed aliened confirmed and by these presents doth bargain sell alien release convey _____ and confirm unto the said Nathaniel S. Hastin his ferry at upper Elkton in the County and State aforesaid together with all the land appertaining to said Ferry on the south side of said Elk river which will fully appear, by reference to a deed Executed on the 18th day of July 1825 by Thomas Harwood to Thomas Batte and also thru Lots in the town of Upper Elkton aforesaid near the said Ferry on the North side of said Elk river and Numbered in the plan of the said town of upper Elkton one hundred and twelve one hundred and thirteen and one hundred and fourteen which will more fully appear by reference to said plan also the ferry boat, chains, rope and other apparatus appertaining to said Ferry.

To have and to hold the above described ferry lands lots ferry Boat chains rope and other apparatus with all the appurtenance thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the proper use on behoof of him the said Nathaniel S. Hastin and his heirs forever. And the said John Hankins for himself his heirs & doth covenant and agree to and with the said Nathaniel S. Hastin and his heirs forever. And the said John Hankins for himself his heirs & doth covenant and agree to and with the said Nathaniel S. Hastin his heirs That he will forever warrant and defend the title of the said Ferry land, lotts ferry boat chains rope and other apparatus above mentioned unto him the said Nathaniel S. Hasting his heirs & against the challenge claim or claims of himself the said John Hankins his heirs and against the challenge claim or claims of all and every other persons or persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said John Hankins hath hereunto set his hand and affixes his seal the day and date first above written.
