Mrs. Gordon Rites Slated For Sunday

Services for Mrs. Beulah McLaurine Gordon, 91, of 4203 Leland Lane, will be at 2:30 pm Sunday at the West End Methodist Church. Dr. Roy C. Clark and Dr. A.J. Walton will officiate.

Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery, Lynville. Finley Dorris and Charlton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gordon died Friday in a local infirmary after an extended illness.

A native of Lynville, she was a daughter of the late DeWitt Franklin and Ella Heflin McLaurine. She was a descendent of John Laird, a prominent landowner in Giles County who was Lynn Creek's first postmaster. Her grandfather, the Rev. Rufus T. Heflin, was a trustee of Trinity College, Durham, N.C., the predecessor of Duke University, and the first editior of the North Carolina Christian Advocate.

Mrs. Gordon was educated in the Lynnville schools and attended Peabody College. She moved to Nashville in 1932 and was a receptionist for the YWCA for several years and was a reader in the state sessions.

She was married in 1903 to Harvey Walker Gordon of Lynville. He died in 1904.

Mrs. Gordon was a member of the West End Methodist Church and the Mary Helm Bible Class.

Survivors include a son, Buford Gordon, Nashville; a nephew, Paul DeWitt McLaurine, Nashville; and a niece, Mrs. Walter H. Gay, Memphis.
