OBITUARY - "PULASKI CITIZEN"

Thomas Joseph Johnson died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Holt, of Pulaski, Tennessee. He was engaged in farming until the infirmities of age forced him to retire. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery, Bodenham Community where Mr. Johnson formerly lived and where other members of the family are buried. Services were conducted by the Rev. W. F. Burden, pastor of the Pisgah Methodist Church and burial was at New Hope cemetery.

One daughter and seven sons survived him.

Obit in the "Pulaski Record" states funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. F. Burden, pastor of the Pisgah Methodist Church officiating and that burial was at New Hope cemetery. In "Pulaski Citizen" it is stated funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Buchanan pastor of the Pisgah and Blooming Grove circuit and that Mr. Johnson had been a member of the Church at Blooming Grove for a long time.

Obit advises that one daughter and seven sons survived him.

Census records of 1900 and 1910 advise he was born in Alabama.

Jesse Austin Hargrove

J. A. Hargrove, aged 92, died at the home of Jack Thornton, four miles north of Troy, Friday morning at 11:45 after a short illness. Mr Hargrove was born in GiIes county, Tennessee, in 1836 and was married at the age of 19 to Miss S.M.Holland. To this union ten children were born, six boys and four girls, two of whom are deceased. Those surviving are L.A., T.C., and C. T . Hargrove and Mrs. S.F. Nobles, all of Troy, and Mrs. G.W. Hargrove of Fort Worth; J.J. Hargrove of Dallas; W.F.Hargrove and Mrs. Bob Hargrove of Tennessee. Mr. Hargrove was preceded to the grave by his wife who died in 1900. He came to Texas in 1906 and had lived in the Troy commuinity ever since.

Funeral services will be held at the home of L.L. Thornton Saturday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Ogles. Iterment will be in Roberts cemetery. (Troy, Texas)

Funeral Services For John D. Johnson Are Held Saturday

Funeral services were held Saturday for John David Johnson, 80, father of Commissioner Guy Johnson of Palacios.

Mr. Johnson was born in Giles County in Tennesse January 31, 1862. Following his marriage to Miss Mary Moss they lived in Arkansas for a time then moved to Texas where they settled in Carrizo Springs. There Mr. Johnson entered the stock business and during the more than 30 years he lived there became an influential and widely known stockman.

He died at the home of his son Thursday, June, 7, after an extended illness.

Surviving Mr. Johnson are his wife, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Fort Douglas, Utah; three daughters, Miss Carrie Lee Johnson, Mrs. Iva D. Allisos of Fort Douglas, and Mrs. B. B. Small of Berkeley, California, and one son, Guy Johnson.

Services were held at the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. L. W. Crouch of the Baptist Church of Palacios officiating. Burial was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Winfred, Ballard, Charles and Mack Johnson, grandsons of the deceased, and Gilbert Herman and Byron King, grandsons-in-law.
