Nancy Mullins Smith
Wife of Rev. James Smith,
who was a signer of the Petition and was the founder of the Mount Pleasant Methodist Episcopal Church in South Newburg, Franklin County, AL. in 1824.

Both are buried in the cemetery behind the church. It is on the Alabama Historic Register.

Nancy and James were in the "removal" and married in Madison county circa 1813. Both their families moved to Madison county. Matt Smith and his wife Sally Wallace, parents of James, moved to Lawrence county.

Nancy, her parents and James moved to Franklin county.

The photo is from a daguerreotype made in 1852, and sent to me by cousin Wallis Smith.
