William H. Abbott History

My genealogy connections to Giles County are as follows:

My great-grandfather's name was William H. Abbot. He married William (Willie) Thomas Miller on 18 Jul 1891 in Giles County, TN. It has been handed down that Willie Miller's parents were John and Mary Miller of Giles County, TN. Both John and Mary were supposed to have been born in the mid 1840's in Giles County. TN. I have found Census listings for 1880 that have all of the correct names, but with the omission of my great-grandmother, Willie Miller, from the list.

My latest thought is that she might have been the youngest sibling of William and Harriet Miller whose youngest child was listed as "Willie" on the 1870 Giles Co. Census. I have an aunt in her 80's in Malvern, AR, who has a photo of William (Willie) Thomas Miller Abbott's father. My aunt is elderly now, so I haven't presured her very much about the photo. I have asked her son to try to get more information.

In the meantime, I do have a photo of Willie Miller Abbott and her family. Willie and her husband , William H. Abbott had three children. Their first child was Wylie Fletcher Abbott, my grandfather, born on Nov. 6, 1892 in Prospect, Giles County, TN. Their other two children were James Ollie Abbott and Mable Gertrude Abbott.

William H. Abbott died as a young man and Willie remarried William Samuel Thurman.

When Mable Gertrude Abbott died in the 1970's there were Miller family members that came to Arkansas for the funeral, but I was a child then and did not know them. As of now, I still have never been able to make a definite connection with the Millers.

One other note: William H. Abbott's uncle, Samuel Huey Abbott, was first married to a Fannie Miller Abbott, who, I believe, may have been related to Willie Miller.

I hope someone may see my picture and be able to give me some answers. My great-grandparents have been my toughest generation, thus far. I can go back several generations past my great-grandfather with his parents, siblings, etc. but, very little on him.
