The Will of James Pully

I James Pully of the County of Giles and State of Tennessee, being of sound mind & memory do make this my last will & testament.

Item. It is my will and desire in the first place after decease, that my debts be paid out of any money on hand or that may arise from the sale of any of my estate.

Item. I loan to my beloved wife, my land, household and kitchen furniture, during her life or widowhood, in the event of her marrying again or at her death, it is my desire that it be equally divided among my children, or the heirs of their body.

Item. I loan my wife during her life or widowhood, four of my negroes, viz:Ben, Lewis, Shade & Easter-at her death or in the event of her marrying to be disposed of as above.

Item. I give to my wife my yoke of oxen, and waggon, and Plantation, Tools sufficient to work with.-

Item. I give my wife sufficient of my cows, sheep & hogs for the support of the family------and of for one year.

Item. I give my wife , two choice work horses and my Sorrell Filly. It is my will and desire that my Executor herein after named purchase with any money arising from my estate sufficient sugar & coffee for my wife and family one year.

Item. It is my will and desire that my daughters, Elizabeth & Lucy Ann remain with my wife and be supported out of the estate. I loan her if it can be done, otherwise, out of their own estate, that I shall herein after leave them.

Item. It is my will and desire that the estate I leave to my daughters or that they may inherit from my estate at my death or wife's, or marriage-shall go to the heirs of their body.

Item. It is my will and desire that all of my estate not herein named shall at my death be equally divided among all my children-

Item. I appoint David M. Pully, my son, Executor of this my last will and testament.

In Testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand & seal this the fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred thirty seven Signed , sealed & ordered
