My great grandparents were William J. Lynn born abt. 1847 in Coffee Co. and Sarah Ann (Hamilton) Lynn. They married in Lincoln Co., Tennessee 17 July 1864. Sarah Ann (Sally) was born 14 July 1846 in Tennessee. I do not know who her parents were. The children of William J. and Sally Lynn were Nancy L, Thomas L, Milton M., Edna A., William Robert (who was my grandfather), Elzy Berry, and Fred Lee Lynn. They lived in Giles county near Pisgah until abt. 1877 when they moved to Cooke Co., Texas, where William was killed. Sarah then married a man named J.T. Dalley.

The father of William J. Lynn was Jackson Ulysses Lynn He was married to Lucinda____. Jackson Ulysses Lynn was born in Warren Co., Tennessee. Children of Jackson and Lucinda were Thomas Houston, who married Malinda Caroline Vaught, Andrew M. who married Martha (Parsons) Lynn (Martha was first married to Andrew's cousin), Emeline (Ella) who married Alexander Hobbs, William J., Mary who married Joseph Smartt, Jr., Elzy Berry who married Ida Bell Johnson, and Nelly whom I have never been able to find after the 1880 census. Lucinda died sometime after Nelly was born in abt.
April 1860.

Jackson married a second time to Sarah Caroline Gooden in Madison Co., Alabama on the 12th of February 1875 they had two children Daisy (Dessie) and Mattie Lynn.

The family left Tennessee and moved to Cooke Co., Texas in 1877. They lived there about ten years and then moved into Indian Territory in about 1887.

Jackson Ulysses Lynn was the son of Jacob Joseph Lynn and Rachel ____ who came to Warren Co., Tennessee about 1803 most likely with the Hill wagons. According to the census both Jacob and Rachel were born in South Carolina. Children of Jacob and Rachel Lynn were: Andrew J., Dorcus, Thomas S., Francis (Fanny), Nancy, James, Jackson Ulysses, Malinda, David A., Rachel, Jacob, and George.

George Lynn was married to Adeline McKnight in Cannon County and they moved to Arkansas where they had one child William Henry Lynn. George died and Adeline moved back to Tennessee with the child. She lived in Pulaski, Giles County for the next several years and continued to have six more children and gave them the Lynn name. I have not been able to figure out if she married Jacob Lynn son of Jacob and Rachel Lynn or not. I found where Jacob Lynn owed taxes there so I assume he lived there. I have never found a marriage record for Adeline after George died. This has been one of the big
mysteries in this family.

Some of the family moved to Arkansas some moved to Alabama, some moved to Texas in the late 1800s.. Today they are scattered from coast to coast. I have done a book on this family and also do a newsletter that I send out to family members. I have more than 300 on my mailing list. I have written the
good and the bad about this family but I always try to tell the absolute truth. I have used newspaper articles to help me tell their story. There are more than 200 obits and many other stories I thought anyone would find an interest in, including gossip columns.

NOTES for JACOB:
The Last Will and Testament of Jacob Lynn deceased. I Jacob Lynn of the County of Warren in State Tennessee do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other of wills by me made. 1st., I direct that, all my debts be paid and funeral expenses as soon after I may die as possible out of any money I may die out of any money I may die possessing or come into the hands of my Executor.

Secondly I bequest to my beloved wife Rachel Lynn all my farms and lands belonging threw out her life time and I further bequest for this my two sons George W. Lynn and Jacob Lynn to have the Privilege of tending said lands and paying her rent to support her lifetime and after her decease, it is my wish that the whole of my lands be divided equally between my two sons George W. Lynn and Jacob Lynn and it is further my wish that my wife Rachel have two cows and calves to support her and one heifer for a beef and the balance of my cattle be divided equally between my two sons above named G.W. Lynn and Jacob Lynn and it is further my wish that my wife keep of my hogs enough to make her one hundred pounds of pork for her support the first year after my decease and two breeding sows and four shoats and the balance of my hogs be equally divided between my two sons G.W. and J. Lynn.

I also bequest to my wife Rachel Lynn all my household and kitchen furniture and bed and cooking utensils as much as she will stand in need of, the balance of what she don't stand in need of to give to my two sons G.W. and Jacob Lynn. I also give and bequest to my wife one mare I bought off James Smith and to my son G.W. Lynn one small filly I bought off Levi Smith. I also bequest to my son Jacob Lynn one small mare all the one I now own and for him to pay George what will make his cost equal in value to him.

I also bequest to my son James all my land from the crop fence below the sugar orchard where he now lives, to include all the land from the crop fence to William Lynn tract of land to have his lifetime and after his death to belong to his heirs. I also wish my wife to have the rent that will be due from John Smith and Elijah Rodgers and Lucinda Green for her support this year, and I also wish my wagon not to be sold but to remain in my wife's possession for her and my two sons George and Jacob as is needed
to haul with. I also wish my wife to keep my clock as long as she needs it then to go to my two sons George and Jacob Lynn equally.

I also wish it understood that I have given to my other children not named in this my last will as much as I have left to my two sons above named is my reason for not leaving them any more (to wit) ANDREW, THOMAS, JACKSON, DAVID, FANNY, DORCUS, RACHEL, MATILDA AND NANCY.

I do hearby make ordain and appoint my friend Elisha Reynolds and my beloved wife Rachel executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I Jacob Lynn the said testator have to this my will written on one sheet of paper at my hand and seal this the twenty first day of July in the year of lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one. Signed and sealed in the presence of us who have subscribed our
