Sylvester Brown Stephenson

Sylvester Brown Stephenson, son of Samuel and Mary Shields Stephenson of Giles County, Tennessee, applied to the United Daughters of the Confederacy for the Southern Cross. At the time of his enlistment,November of 1861, he was living in Madison County,Alabama. He entered the service of the Confederacy as a private in Company 2 of Ward's Artillery. He was honorably discharged from said service by the termination of the war and at the time of the surrender was with the 28th Tennessee Cavalry.

Sylvester Brown Stephenson married Mary Holt,daughter of Edmund Holt of Giles County. He died in
Waxachachie,Texas, on April 7,1908.
