Notes for James Collier and Sarah Kimbrough:
James and Sarah left Caswell Co. after 1812 and migrated to Giles Co., TN.
About 1837, they migrated to Tippah Co. MS, where James is found on the 1840
census. James died in MS and Sarah migrated to Upshur Co TX with her son
Bartlett shortly after 1850. In Texas, she remarried to J.J. Wells and is
found on the 1860 census there. J.J. Wells apparently knew the family prior
to his marriage to Sarah. He is found on the list of buyers of items from the
estate sale for Sarah's mother, Isabel "Ibby" Yancey Kimbrough Collier, who
died in 1844 Harrison Co TX. I have not located a grave for Sarah.

were still young in Van Zandt Co TX, exact date unknown. She married James
COURTNEY. They had two children, Mollie, b. 1856, who was adopted after
Tabitha died by Iverson Collier and his second wife Margaret Jane "Peggy"
Johnson, and James JR, b. abt 1857.

Notes for Bartlett Yancey Collier:
Found on the U.S. Census in 1860 living in Upshur Co. TX in the household of
his step-father J.J. Wells. Died in the Civil War in Arkansas.
Served with Col. Edward Clark's 14th Regt of Texas Infantry. Bartlett was
enrolled by Capt. W.L. Coppedge at Coffeyville, Upshur Co. TX, along with two
cousins, John Thomas Collier and Iverson Collier, sons of Thomas Collier
(. 1800). There was a third Collier, W.A., who was also in the 14th and may
have been Wilburn A. Collier, a son of James's brother William "Will" Collier
and his wife Martha "Patsy" Kimbrough.
According to his military records, Bardy was a wagoneer. There was no battle
involving this unit in Dec. 1862, so I assumed Bartlett died of illness or in
an accident.
Notes for Margaret Jane Johnson:
Margaret was known as Peggy. In 1870, she married Bartlett's cousin, Iverson
Collier, who established the Collier's Chapel Methodist Church in Franklin Co.
TX. They had 7 children together. She is buried with Iverson in the cemetery
of the chapel.

Born in Coffeyville,Upshur Co. TX, "Wesley", as he was called, was living in New
Hope, a community near Mesquite, TX when he died. He and his wife, Henrietta, had
sixteen children, but for the purpose of this report, I am concentrating on their
son Bartie.
On the marriage record of William and Henrietta, in Franklin County, his name
appears as Wesley.

Notes for Barney Howard Collier
Barney was known as Jack. He was born in community near Truscott,TX called
Antelope Flat.
His wife Mattie Lee died in 1959 and he re-married in 1960 to a woman named
Bonnie (living),who was widow.They had been married for 27 years when he died
of a ruptured brain aneurysm.
Jack and Mattie Collier were my grandparents.
