TRANSCRIBER'S NOTE: Joseph Hasten/Hasting/Hastings and Sarah Ann Dunnivant were married in Limestone couty January 14, 1841. Her middle name was incorrectly listed as "Jane"on the marriage license. During most of their married years, Joseph and "Sallie" lived in Hastings Hollow near Aspen Hills in Giles Co., TN. They are buried in the Biles-Potts Cemetery. The "S" is no longer visible on her Sallie's tombstone so that it now reads "allie A. Hasting"

This Indenture made this the eight day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty seven between Joseph Hasting and Sarah Ann his wife of the County of Limestone in the State of Alabama of the one part

And Thomas Masterdale of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witneseth that this and Joseph Hasting and Sarah Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained, sold, aliened ______ and conveyed and by these presents do bargain alin ________ and convey unto Thomas Martindale all that certain tract an parcel of land lying and being in the County of Limestone and the State of Alabama known as the last half of the North West quarter of Section seven township and Range four _____containing eighty acres more or less. Also forty acres lying and being in the South East Corner of the Southwest quarter of Section Six Township one Range Four West to have and to hold the above described tracts as parcels of land with appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Thomas Martindale his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joseph Hasting and Sarah Ann his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators do warrant and will forever defend the title to the above described and hereby granted premises unto the said, Thomas Martindale his heirs an assigns from and against themselves and all and every person claiming or holding under this said Joseph Hasting and Sarah Ann his wife and also against the lawful title or claim on demand of all an every person or persons whatsoever claiming or holding by form or under the government of the United States. In testimony whereof the said Joseph Hasting and Sarah Ann his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals. This day and dates above written.
