I believe that George SCOTT may have been the son of Peter Martin SCOTT. I have been told by another researcher that Peter SCOTT had a daughter Mary (Polly) who married David Hillard SHOTTS,and that this family moved to Giles County, TN, during the Civil War. He said "My records show that David Hillard SHOTTS, married Mary SCOTT. In the 1860 census (of Marion County, AL) they are shown to be 38 years of age and had children: George, age 17; Peter, age 16; Stephen, age 10, and John, age 6. George married and reared a family of five children in Giles County. The two youngest of which I had the pleasure of visiting in 1920 in Columbia, TN. Gertrude was a nurse and Johnnie worked in a bank there. An older sister was married and lived there, but do not remember her name." The above came from a researcher who in the 1980's was in his nineties. Does anyone know anythng about these families?

I have a great-great-great grandfather named James Polk BUGG that was born in Giles Conty, Tennessee in 1844. I believe that he was from a town named Prospect Station. I would like to know if this is the correct town name. I assume he married in TN because his daughter, my great-great grandmother, married my great-great grandfather in TN before they came to Texas. Also, I have some records that indicate that he returned to Propsect Station after the Civil War. His daughter's name was Sarah Lucy Bugg and I have very little info on her. I would like to obtain any marriage, birth, etc. on her. She married Henry Thomas CASE on an nuknown date and place. Thanks,

Seeking information on the forbearers and descendents of Peterson MCGILL. MCGILL was born in Tennessee circa 1816. He first appears in census records for Giles County in 1840 as Peter MAGILL. MCGILL apparently lived near the Alabama state line (vicinity of Limestone Co., Alabama), as he was enumerated in the latter county in 1850 and 1860. In 1870 he was counted once again in Giles Co., while in 1880 he was in Lauderdale Co., AL. Peterson served in the 26th/50th Alabama Infantry, CSA, from 1861-1865, and was wounded either at Shiloh or Atlanta. He was married four times: Mahala LONG, Eodus (Oda) ,MARBUTSarah SHELTON or SHERWOOD and Catherine DALY. He had 17 known children by these spouses, most of whom lived in Giles Co., TN or Limestone Co., AL. I have found records in Giles Co. Court Minutes during the 1840's documenting land transactions with other MCGILLs including Eli T. MCGILL, Joel MCGILL and Isaac MCGILL. The latter individuals may have been brothers or cousins. Eli T. MCGILL lived in Davidson Co. circa the Civil War, and filed a claim (Which was denied) with the Southern Claims Commission in the 1870's. I would appreciate any information that anyone might have to share with me regarding Peterson and his family.
