MCCANLESS, YOUNG, SUTTON

Hi, I'm new on the list and I hope that someone can help me solve a problem. On 3/14/1862 Arcihbald Smith YOUNG was murdered in Giles Co. The accused were Coleman B SUTTON and John G MCCANLESS. They apparently both fled and were never captured. John G MCCANLESS was married to Archibald YOUNG's sister Dianna. Can anyone tell me which MCCANLESS family John G. was part of?? At that time there were descendants of 4 sons of John MCCANLESS (died 1840, Giles Co.) and 2 sons of William MCCANLESS (died 1851, Giles Co.) still living in Giles Co.

HEREFORD, MINETREE

One Ann or Frances Ann MINITREE b: 1740 Charles Co. MD, m. Henry HEREFORD/HERRIFORD/HERYFORD abt. 1760. He died in Franklin Co. TN about 1814. She also died in Franklin Co. TN about 1833. He is named as son of John HEREFORD and Jane BARNES.
This Ann was one of 9 children born to Jacob Andrew MINITREE (b. abt 1714, d. 1760 Charles Co. MD) and Rosamond HOLLAND. Jacob Andrew and David D. are listed as sons of David MINITREE who died in Bruton Parish, Williamsburg, VA. (Wife????) Jacob Andrew and David D. are their only 2 children named by one of my sources. This David D. would have been Ann's Uncle.
Does anyone in Franklin County searching know about these families? I'm trying to connect my husband and our children to David Minetree the brickmason at Carter's Grove Plantation 1752-1755 in Williamsburg, VA.

BELL,PRICE,MONTGOMERY,BLALOCK I am looking for information about the parents of Robert James Addision Bell and his sister Isabella C Bell. Robert and his sister are listed in the 1850 Tennessee Census Decatur County. They were living with John and Sarah Price. I think that Isabella might have married a Montgomery. I assume their parents died somewhere between 1847/1850. Robert was my Grandad. I have his life history. I do not have any information concerning their parents or about Isabella C. Bell after the 1850 and 1860 census when she was 13 years old. If you have any information concerning the Bell's of Decatur or Perry County Tenn. I would really appreciate your help. Family rumors indicates that (my Bell Family)traveled/came from North Carolina with the ancestors of Jesse and Frank James. Frank and Jesse visited my Grandparents' home in Carrol County during their young manhood. And then Frank by himself after 1900. Robert himself served with Gen. N.B. Forrest during the Civil War.

Beyond that, I all I know is that Isabella's mother's name is STEWART (and was 1/2 Cherokee); her fathers name was Joe DUNAVAN, Thomas' mother's name was BALL and his father (HEWITT, no given name) was killed in the Civil War. BOYCE, PAYNE,

The earliest member of my BOYCE family which I have found is Meshach BOYCE, who is buried at Bee Spring near Pulaski in Giles County. Meshach BOYCE was born 2-22-1781, probably in TN or NC. He was married to Sarah PAYNE. Meshachs son, Cyrus Leander BOYCE, was my GG Grandfather. Cyrus Leander Boyce was born 3-12-1819 in TN, dying in MO 4-1-1901. I have not yet visited Giles County, but I was wondering if anyone else is researching my BOYCE line. I have quite a bit of history on the more recent BOYCES.

CAMPBELL

I recently learned that my Richard J. CAMPBELL, b 1841, moved his family from Jackson Co AL to Bunker Hill TN in 1882. (The county was not specified and because of location, my guess is either Giles or Rutherford Co.) They lived there until they moved to TX about 1890. One son, John CAMPBELL born 1871, died at age 19. As he did not move with the family to TX, I assume he died and is buried in the Bunker Hill vicinity. Is there any tombstone to match this circumstance? Are there any records of this family in Giles County? His wife was Alabama Louisa "Bama" and their children were: James Roddy, John, Mary Frances, William Hugh, Russel Lemuel, Dee Poston, Colby H., Sarah Elizabeth.
