Last Will and Testament of
William Hughes

As recorded in the Book of Wills in Giles County, Tennessee

I, William Hughes, do make and publish this as my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any monies that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executor. Secondly I give and bequeath to my wife Lydia two notes- one on William C. Hughes for fifty dollars due the 25th day of December 1853; the other on William G. Robinson and George H. Robinson and Phillip J. Hall for one hundred and twenty five dollars with a credit of twenty two dollars and nine cents the 9th day of September 1853 and one other credit of forty dollars and fifteen cents the 14th day of February1854. Also four head of cattle and one other note on A.W. Hughes for seventy dollars due the 25th day of December 1854. Thirdly I give to my daughter Elizabeth Hardiman seventy five and 3/4 acres of land of the south end of the tract I purchased of foggs heirs. Fourthly I give to my daughter, Faith Lusby, forty acres of land lying in Limestone County, Alabama in section nineteen it being the northeast forty acres of said section in township one of range four west. Fifthly I give to my son John W. Hughes heirs one note on William C. Hughes for two hundred dollars due the 25th day of December 1854. Sixthly I give to my son Aron E. Hughes fifty acres, more or less, of land off my half of the land I and Aron E. Hughes purchased of Robert S. Hillhouse including the west end of my half of said land. Seventhly I give to my son J.E. Hughes the remainder part of the above named tract of land purchased of R.S. Hillhouse it being the east end of said tract. Eighthly I give to my son A.W. Hughes one hundred and seven dollars one yoke of oxen worth forty dollars. Ninthly I give to my son William C. Hughes forty acres of land lying in Limestone County, Alabama in section eighteen, it being the south west forty of said section, township one, range four west. Tenthly I give to my son J.H. Hughes three hundred and fifty dollars in his lifetime it being the amount of my estate I intended for his portion of said estate. Eleventhly I give to my son Anderson C. Hughes forty acres of land lying in Limestone County, Alabama in section nineteen, it being the northwest forty of said section, township one, range four west. Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint Anderson Hardiman and Aron E. Hughes my executors. In witness where of I do to this, my will, set my hand seal this the 15th day of August 1854.
