The will of Joseph Rowe transcribed from a copy of the original, on file at the Giles Co. Courthouse, by Regina Roper State of Tennessee, Giles County September 25, 1845 Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Rowe of the state and county above mentioned do this day make this my last will and testament. VIZ to Eliezar my son and Mary my wife during her natural life the premises on which I live extending west to a line to commence at Alfred Rowe�s North West corner running north to the bear camp branch thence west to the little rock spring, thence north to the north boundary of the tract. To my son Miles I give all the land contained in the original tract west of Eliezar�s west line as above mentioned. To my son Alfred I give the land lying south of a line running East from Alfred Rowe�s north west corner so as to include the land I purchased from Elam Stevenson. To my son Henry I give the entire tract of land I purchased from Devorist Hightower lying in Lincoln County Tenn. To my son Joseph I give all the land I purchased from Morgan Holbert and Philemon Higgins lying in Lincoln County Tenn. Furthermore I leave Benjamin Smith my son in law five dollars. I leave William Stevenson my son in law five dollars. I leave Henry Rowe my son five dollars. I leave Alfred Rowe my son five dollars. I leave Benjamin Bass my son in law five dollars. I leave to my son Joseph the sorrell horse that he claims. I leave to my son Miles the bay horse that he claims. I leave to Eliezar my son thirty one dollars to buy a horse for him. I leave to Polly my wife the sorrell mare that she claims. I leave my son Miles one hundred and fifty dollars extra for building on his land and I leave my son Eliezar my shot-gun. I leave the remainder of all my stock to my wife Polly and my three sons Joseph, Miles, and Eliezar to be equally divided among them. All the above I give under my hand the day and date above mentioned. Attest A.M.
