Will of Sarah Vance (wife of Jacob Vance, Sr.) Sarah and Jacob Vance
lived in Giles County TN. Sarah was living with one of her children
in Lincoln Co. TN when she died.

In the name of God Amen. I Sarah Vance of the State of Tennessee and
County of Lincoln, being sick and weak of body of sound mind and
disposing memory (for which I thank God) and calling to mind the
uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such
worldly substance as it hath pleased God to bless me with. I give &
bequeath the same in manner following that is to say. After all my
just debts and funeral expenses is paid, I give & bequeath to my three
grand daughters Lucinda, Sarah, & Polly Vance daughters of Nancy
Lemley all my house hold furniture and wearing apparel and my side
saddle & trunk to my grand daughter Lucinda whenever they shall arrive
at proper age to be by them possessed enjoyed and disposed of as they
see fit and to my grand son James Vance so of William Vance I give my
bay mare to be by him possessed enjoyed & disposed of as he sees fit
& convenient and all the rest & residue of my estate both real &
personal to be sold after my decease and the proceeds of the same to
be equally divided among my two sons William Vance & John Vance and my
four grand children, Wiley H. Lemley, Lucinda, Sarah & Polly Vance the
aforesaid forenamed grand children to an equal part with my own (that
is their mother's part and whereas I have heretofore advanced to my
son James Vance at different times about two hundred dollars
principally in cash now in case he will pay over the aforesaid sum of
$200 then for him to have an equal part with the rest and if he should
fail to pay over the aforesaid sum for him not to have any more of my
estate as I consider the aforesaid sum fully if not over & above his
equal part of my estate. And lastly I do hereby constitute & appoint
my son John Vance executor of this my last will & testament hereby
revoking all other or forever wills or ___ _____ heretofore by me made
in witness where of I have herewith set my hand & seal this 18th day
of August in the year of our Lord 1829.
